Itinerary 1 - Exploring our vineyard, the district wineries and Wanaka township

Day 1 in Wanaka
If you are travel weary a quiet day may be in order.
Lets have a wander through our vineyard and we can talk about the peculiarities and nurture required to grow Pinot Noir grapes. We can visit Sarah Kate and Dan at the Maude winery where our wine is made and taste some of the wine from the barrels The 2007 harvest is undergoing malalactic fermentation and maturing. A short distance on is the Rippon Vineyard one of the most picturesque and photographed vineyards in New Zealand .
30 minutes by road from the Lodge is The Big Picture where you can sample the wines of the region and have lunch or a late afternoon snack . The Aroma Room is a special feature where your education on wine and their aromas can be tested.

Day 2
Wanaka has some fine shops specializing in Merino garments and Sharon can give you good advice on any product whether it is for a gift or for yourselves. Spend some time shopping or dining at one of the many cafes and restaurants and people watching. (Perhaps more suitable for wives,) Husbands are welcome to come over to the barn for a cool beer to explore and check out the 10m catamaran that is being built.

Depending on time have a trip on the lake with the jet boats or take a trip with Wanaka River Journeys which takes you on a mountain river eco-journey.

Walk round the edge of the Lake on well formed tracks. A three to four hour walk or borrow our Mountain bikes and you can go from Wanaka township to the outlet of the Lake; the Clutha river and beside the river to Albert Town where you can brave the highway back to the Lodge or ring us and we will pick you up. For US and European guests remember we drive / ride on the left side of the road.

Day 3
Less arduous; a day at our airport spent visiting the NZ Fighter pilots museum the Transport museum, where apparently the largest collection of Barbie dolls in the Southern Hemisphere now resides, there are many collectible items worth an hour or more inspection. Also at this site is the Wanaka Beer Works. Natural organic no preservatives very pleasant beers are produced in what we term a boutique brewery.

For the adventurous Skydive with our very professional sky diving team at Wanaka Skydive. Video footage is taken to re-live your adventure.

Day 4
Golf although neither of us play golf the local course is said to be very pleasant and a test of your skills. Green fees are very modest. Again we are very happy to arrange a round for you. Just let us know and it will be organized. Approximately 10 kms from the Lodge is a 9 hole course on the Hawea road.
