Day 2 Fancy a four wheel (quad) motorbike trip exploring the Criffel range. Then drive up the Cardrona Valley for twenty minutes to the base start site and a guide will lead you up onto the top of the range on your motorbikes and you can see the Alpine tussocks and the myriad of tussocks that make up the alpine flora. Also they have a race track for fun for families, children aged 6+ can ride on their own 50cc bikes, and you can all climb aboard their specialist vehicles, check www.adventurepark.co.nz. Either for lunch or afternoon tea drive a little further up the Cardrona Rd to the Pub and absorb the atmosphere of the 19th century, do look at the ceiling of the room next to the bar it is a special feature.
Day 3 If fly fishing the mountain streams is attractive, you can fly from the Lodge by helicopter with a guide. The lake fishing is all year round but the streams are limited to a season between 1st of October till April 30th. All fishermen must have a license With the fish you have caught (after the photos of course) if you wish to have it for dinner we are happy to prepare and serve it. Hunting of Tahr and Chamois also have a season starting in March through to late June when the snow is likely to be a problem. Alpine picnics are a specialty of the Alpine Helicopter Company and can be enjoyed by the spouse who are perhaps less enchanted with fishing or game hunting. |
