However if you enjoy painting then all the materials are here and Sharon is happy to offer a guiding hand along with a glass of wine, so you can produce your own masterpiece to take home with you. We live in an area of amazing sunsets and vistas. The light and the ever changing colours of the mountains mountains always impress our guests. Sharon is also a superb chef, and has been offered positions in both London and New York restaurants. Again she is happy to share experience and offer guidance. Her muffin recipe in particular has been taken home by most of the guests at the Lodge.

Skiing , snow boarding, cross country skiing all field access roads are 20minutes from the Lodge. However most of the roads can take up to 30 minutes to climb to the snow area. We have four major snow areas Treble Cone, Cardrona, Snow Farm and Terrain Park (at the Snow Farm) Day passes are available. However if you intend to ski for several days then early season passes can be very economical. These usually become available from early March each year. We particularly welcome families with children on a single party booking basis The Mount Aspiring National Park An hour or two will be rewarded if you visit the Park headquarters. They are in the township of Wanaka and offer information that identifies the fauna and flora of this Alpine area and can therefore give you a snap shot of the park and its mountains, glaciers, rivers and forests, along with the maps and guidance if you need that sort of assistance.
A day trip over the hill Queenstown. An hour away from the Lodge over the Crown Range Rd. The highest public road in New Zealand. Will bring you to Arrowtown a 19th Century goldmining town and then on to Queenstown in its beautiful setting but highly commercialized . However there are many tourists shops but limited parking means it best to have a driver. A gondola ride to the Skyline restaurant will give you spectacular views of the city and its surrounds. On the way into Queenstown a stop off at the Shotover Gorge Jet boat is a memorable exciting event. It pays to book from the Lodge, so you are not kept waiting for a trip. Depending on time; drive down the Kawarau Gorge Rd. Bungy jump if that's your wish then onto the Gibbston Valley Winery and cheese factory with its wine cave tours on the hour and a very good restaurant. Traveling the Kawarau Gorge Rd drive past Cromwell alongside Lake Dunstan and through the Lowburn vineyard area and back to Wanaka and the Lodge; a 90 minute on the road trip. |
